demonstration experiment

A type of policy research based loosely on the experimental research design. New policies or procedures are introduced in one location, such as a factory or school, and the resulting effects compared with other similar locations where the changes have not been introduced, usually with a view to demonstrating the benefits of the changes thus tested. See also control (experimental).
